The steam network roughly follows a route along the 'Geslecht' and the 'Ketenislaan' in Doel. All project activities are optimally aligned with each other to limit any nuisance to an absolute minimum. A number of individual project sites will however be worked on simultaneously.

Construction work at the Geslecht

Construction work at the Geslecht will commence in April 2017 and be completed in December 2017. During the execution, multiple project sites will be created at the Geslecht. Measures are implemented to minimize traffic nuisance and safely complete all work. A pipeline bridge will be built over the road and railroad. Traffic will only experience limited nuisance from these activities.

Construction work at the Ketenislaan

The steam transport pipeline will be constructed in the pipeline strip parallel to the Ketenislaan and under the Sint-Annalaan. Construction work at the Ketenislaan will commence in April 2017 and will be completed in December 2017. The steam transport pipeline at the Ketenislaan will be mostly constructed aboveground. Crossing the Sint-Annalaan and the Oudendijk will be done underground. We strive to limit nuisance to an absolute minimum. Only the Sint-Annalaan will be entirely closed to accommodate the pipeline construction. Traffic will be diverted via both the Ploegweg, Steenlandlaan and Ketenislaan, and via the Molenweg and Sint-Antoniusweg. No diversions apply for cyclists, as a passage lane will be created for them adjacent to the construction site.

Storage and delivery chain terrain Ketenislaan

Equipment such as steam pipeline segments and sand will be stored on the grass field adjacent to the Ketenislaan (depicted on the image below). The contractor's 'delivery chain' terrain will also be temporarily located here. Work will be carried out on business days between 07:00 and 18:00 hours. Soil, sand and equipment will be supplied to this central location and dispatched to the various individual construction sites. By building a storage facility on this terrain, we significantly limit the number of transport movements which would burden local traffic otherwise. The delivery chain terrain and the storage facility will remain in use untill the end of the construction works.
